Leon started with us in May of 2017 and is servicing the Limestone Coast region!
For Leon, the journey started just over 15 years ago when he started an apprenticeship as a bricklayer with a local southeast builder, though it wasn’t just bricklaying that he covered; bricklaying, stone masonry, tiling floor and wall, paving and concreting were some of the many aspects involved in building architecturally designed houses, extensions and renovations from the ground up all over the South East. He is experienced in all a
spects of building using well known and innovative new products.
From there, Adelaide was the next destination and fresh out of his apprenticeship, Leon was put in charge of one of his former trade school teachers gang, bricklaying over all areas in Adelaide.
After 12 months, it was time to move on and along with his wife, Leon set off on a working journey around Australia experienced many different building
techniques from state to state meeting a lot of interesting and incredibly friendly people along the way.
It was then time to head home to the Limestone Coast in pursuit of running his own business; creating Leon Thomson Bricklaying.
Passionate about building, and with a family on the way Leon decided to further his education by completing a Cert IV in Building and Construction, as well as obtaining his general builders’ license.
Since then, Leon has been involved in new construction from residential homes, commercial buildings, renovations and extensions, pergolas and even sheds; you name it, he has done it!
Since then Leon’s business has expanded, employing 20 locals full time through all areas of the construction industry.
The urge was still there to further use his building knowledge, and here Leon is today as part of the Jim’s Building Inspection group offering comprehensive building inspection services all over the Limestone Coast and Western Victoria.
In his spare time, Leon loves getting out and about with his wife and 2 daughters, camping at local lakes relaxing and enjoying the out doors. “Getting down the beach (when the weather allows) is one of the great things we get to experience in the limestone coast with the beautiful coastline.”
He is also involved in local sport and loves the being a part of the club environment.
“The limestone coast is a wonderful place to life and I really enjoy being a part of an informed decision when my fellow community members are moving into the property market, looking for and investment property or building a new house.”
We are really excited to be partnering with a local builder and business owner who is so passionate about the Mt. Gambier and Limestone Coast region!
